During a series of short presentations, each association introduced its mission and showcased the initiatives it is developing across Luxembourg.

Young Planners OAI

Created in 2023 under the umbrella of the OAI, Young Planners aims to give a stronger voice to the next generation of architects and engineers. The association organises conferences, debates, exhibitions, workshops and informal networking events to bridge the gap between academic education and professional practice. It actively promotes dialogue between students, young practitioners and experienced professionals while encouraging critical thinking about the future of the built environment.

Young Planners also contributes to outreach activities in schools, raises awareness of engineering and architecture careers, and publishes articles in the OAI’s online magazine. Through its growing programme of events, the organisation seeks to build an open and collaborative community capable of shaping the future of the profession in Luxembourg.

ANEIL – Association Nationale des Étudiants Ingénieurs Luxembourgeois

ANEIL represents students from engineering, architecture and the wider STEM disciplines. Beyond supporting its members, the association works to inspire future generations by participating in student fairs and advising prospective university students on scientific and technical studies. Throughout the year it organises company visits, technical excursions, cultural trips and networking events that help students discover both industry and research.

One of its flagship initiatives is the annual « Meeting », which connects graduating students with companies looking for future engineers and scientists. ANEIL also publishes several magazines presenting engineering disciplines, student projects and association news. International study trips, such as recent visits to Japan and London, further broaden students’ professional and cultural horizons.

ASA – Architecture Students Association

ASA represents Master’s students in Architecture at the University of Luxembourg. Its objective is to support students academically while fostering a close-knit and creative community. The association co-organises exhibitions showcasing students’ Master’s theses and provides opportunities for emerging architects to present personal work through smaller exhibitions. It also creates informal moments where students, teachers and guests can exchange ideas outside the classroom.

Through its collaboration with Young Planners and Cultures of Assembly, ASA encourages students to engage with the professional architectural community at an early stage. Social activities remain an important part of its mission, reinforcing the friendships that often become future professional networks.

Cultures of Assembly (COA)

Cultures of Assembly is a research platform exploring democratic participation, social justice and urban regeneration. Originally launched as an academic initiative at the University of Luxembourg, it has gradually evolved into an interdisciplinary platform bringing together researchers, students, public authorities and local residents.

Operating from its space in Esch-sur-Alzette, COA investigates how cities can be shaped through dialogue and collective participation rather than traditional top-down planning. Its activities include research projects, public lectures, exhibitions, workshops and design studios involving architecture students. Rather than focusing solely on buildings, the organisation places human relationships at the centre of urban development. COA sees collaboration across disciplines as essential for creating more inclusive and resilient cities.

InGSCI – Association of Engineers and Scientists

With a history spanning more than 125 years, the association of Engineers and Scientists in Luxembourg promotes engineering and science throughout Luxembourg while seeking to attract younger generations to the profession. The association organises conferences, technical site visits and networking events covering subjects ranging from industrial innovation to the rapidly expanding space sector. It also supports numerous engineering awards recognising outstanding Master’s theses and professional achievements.

Through its mobile Wëssens-Atelier, InGSCI visits primary schools across Luxembourg, offering hands-on workshops that introduce children to science and engineering. Close cooperation with ANEIL helps strengthen the transition between university studies and professional careers. While deeply rooted in Luxembourg’s engineering community, the association welcomes anyone interested in science and technological innovation.

LUCA – Luxembourg Center for Architecture

LUCA plays its role as Luxembourg’s independent centre for architectural culture. The organisation promotes architecture through exhibitions, lectures, debates and public events that encourage dialogue between architects and society. Its independence allows it to explore contemporary architectural issues freely and to stimulate discussion on the future of the built environment. LUCA seeks to make architecture accessible to a broader audience while encouraging critical reflection on urban development and design. By acting as a cultural platform, it connects professionals, institutions and the general public around architectural ideas.

MUSE – Creative & Community Driver Association

MUSE is one of the youngest organisations represented during the evening. Founded less than three years ago, it aims to create an inclusive environment where creativity, design and the arts intersect. Through hands-on workshops, storytelling events, exhibitions and educational projects, the association encourages participants to explore new ideas and collaborate across disciplines.

One of its recent initiatives brought together local designers and students from various educational backgrounds to exchange practical skills and creative approaches. MUSE places particular emphasis on creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable proposing projects or discussing artistic and design-related topics. Collaboration remains the central pillar of its activities.

Young Architects Association (YAA)

The Young Architects Association was born from informal gatherings of young architects returning to Luxembourg after completing their studies abroad. Since becoming an official association in 2024, YAA has developed a dynamic programme combining monthly networking events with technical site visits, conferences and practical workshops. Members regularly gain access to major construction sites and landmark projects, providing valuable insight into contemporary architectural practice.

The association also collaborates with LUCA, engineering organisations and industry partners on workshops and lectures that encourage interdisciplinary exchange. Looking ahead, YAA plans to launch its first design competition and organise a visit to the Vitra Campus, further expanding opportunities for professional development. Throughout all its activities, the association remains committed to strengthening the community of young architects in Luxembourg.

The evening clearly demonstrated that while each organisation has its own identity and priorities, they share a common objective: building stronger links between education, professional practice and society. By bringing together architects, engineers, scientists, students, researchers and designers, the Young Planners initiative highlighted the emergence of an increasingly connected ecosystem that is helping shape the future of Luxembourg’s built environment.
